Celebrating the divine spirit of Lord Ganesha while protecting our planet โ one clay idol at a time.
A grassroots eco-cultural organization rooted in devotion and environmental responsibility
Jai Ganesha Bhakthi Samithi (JGBS) is a dedicated eco-cultural organization based in India, working tirelessly to revive the ancient tradition of using natural clay (Matti) idols of Lord Ganesha during the sacred festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Founded with the motto "Save Environment, Save Nature", our organization unites thousands of devotees, volunteers, and community leaders across all over India to spread awareness about the environmental impact of plaster-of-paris (PoP) idols and to actively promote the switch to eco-friendly clay idols.
We believe that true devotion to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, includes being responsible stewards of the Earth He blesses. Our celebrations honour both the divine and the natural world.
Every decision we make is guided by faith, community, and care for our planet
We campaign against chemical-laden PoP idols that pollute our rivers and lakes. Natural clay dissolves harmlessly, enriching water bodies.
Clay Ganesha idols are the original tradition. Ancient scriptures mandate clay idols for worship โ we bring back this pure, sacred practice.
We connect volunteers, local artisans, and devotees to create a unified green movement that spans every corner of India.
Through events, social media campaigns, and door-to-door outreach, we educate communities about eco-friendly celebrations.
By promoting clay idols, we uplift local potters and sculptors whose livelihoods depend on this centuries-old craft.
We actively work to ensure our rivers, ponds, and lakes remain clean by eliminating toxic immersion practices festival after festival.
Understanding the science and the tradition behind the eco-friendly choice
PoP idol chemicals cause mass fish deaths and destroy biodiversity in Indian water bodies every year.
Heavy metals from chemical paints seep into groundwater, endangering millions of people's health.
Undissolved PoP blocks sunlight into water bodies, killing aquatic plants and disrupting entire food chains.
From grassroots awareness drives to large-scale idol distribution, we take action
Every year during Ganesh Chaturthi, JGBS distributes thousands of free eco-friendly clay idols across India โ making the green choice accessible to all.
We organize and support community-level eco-friendly Ganesh festival celebrations that bring together thousands of devotees for joyful, pollution-free festivities.
Our volunteers lead awareness processions through towns and villages, distributing pamphlets and educating people about the environmental impact of PoP idols.
We run active campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms โ sharing educational content, event updates, and motivating people to adopt eco-friendly celebrations.
JGBS appoints State, District, and Constituency-level leaders across India to ensure our green mission reaches every neighbourhood and mandal.
